Lessac Kinesensic Training

Lessac Kinesensic Training is unique in its holistic, comprehensive and creative approach to all aspects of developing the body and the voice. It is applicable to all human behaviour, communication and perception as well as in the creative and performance arena. Kinesensic training is a self-teaching, sensory-based process based on feeling the way the human body functions organically when it is free of adverse conditioning. It uses physical sensations to identify, produce and voluntarily facilitate the voice and body.
Lessac Kinesensics training holistically addresses Body mind and Voice:

Areas that will be addressed and explored during Body training:

Body Training; Body integration and Breathing; Body energies; Body movement and body aesthetics; Body conditioning and physical fitness; Body Characterization; Natural relaxers and energizers and the Body’s Natural Pain Relievers.
Areas that will be addressed and explored during Voice training:
The presence and use of Tone, consonants and structure in all verbal communication; Effective vocal expressions in communication; Vocal interpretation and expression; Texts and subtexts; a Tono-sensory phonetic system; The interrelationship of the various aspects of voice, speech and language. The use of own voice towards well-being
The various areas will feed into holistic explorations of bodymind and voice that will enhance all communication whether in life, in therapy or in the performing arts.

It is our hope that with this workshop we will draw together people from various continents, celebrating various cultural paradigms and various languages.

Why attend the workshop in South Africa:
• The South African workshop adheres to the rigour expected from any Lessac Kinesensics Intensive.
• It is a three week-long immersive training process.
• It is a multi-lingual, multi-cultural experience.
• The workshop will be facilitated by Lessac Master Teachers and Certified Lessac Trainers assisted by Lessac practitioners.
• It takes place in the South African summer.
• You can tour South Africa before or after the workshop. It may provide a good opportunity to see more of South Africa i.e. great beaches with warm water, excellent scuba diving, wonderful game parks like Kruger, Hluhluwe, Umfolozi and Pilanesberg (amongst others) with big 5, Cape Town & Table mountain, cosmopolitan Durban in the historical kingdom of the Zulu.
• You will possibly meet people from all over the world and experience or witness the application of Lessac Kinesensics in various languages.


This three week intensive include 6 days per week of intensive training in Lessac Kinesensic Body and Voice work with application into Performance, Presentation, Communication and Well-being.
This implies more than 100 hours of contact time with the lecturers and more than 120 notional hours. Contact sessions will be either in big groups, small groups, buddy sessions and weekly individual sessions. The above mentioned fee includes all material that will be handed out during the workshop (including Essential Lessac). 

Prerequisite:
Prerequisite for attending this workshop is two years of undergraduate study in the Arts, Psychology, Vocology, Dance, Creative Movement and Human behaviour or recognition of equivalent learning experiences. Should the potential candidate not adhere to these prerequisites a letter of intent or motivation from the candidate will be requested and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Tuition, Fees, and Housing:
Tuition:

International participants: The total financial estimate is comparable to the budget for USA workshop.
Workshop fee: $1000.00.

Housing for participants:
Housing is not included in the workshop fee. Several housing options exist. We will provide you with a list of University housing options, B&B’s and guest houses around campus. You can thus arrange your housing according to your budget.

Subsistence budget provided as guideline for participants:
A person can live comfortably off R150.00 a day in the Pretoria area. If a participant is here for 22 days, it works out at R3300. The per diem is thus not likely to be more than $250.

The Rand/Dollar exchange is approximately $1.00 > R15.00

Estimate for international travel: $2200.

Estimated total budget is thus not foreseen to be more than $4450.00

Event Cancellation & Refund Policy

Event Cancellation & Refund Policy
Lessac Training and Research Institute (LTRI) reserves the right to refuse/cancel registrations for events, workshops, and conferences. If LTRI refuses a registration prior to the event, registrants will be offered a refund.

Event Cancellation by LTRI
LTRI reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If LTRI cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

Registration Cancellation by Participant
Unless specifically stated on registration materials, the deadline to receive a refund for registration fees for all LTRI events is 30 days prior to an event. Registrants who cancel prior to 30 days, will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event for the following year. Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund.

Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. All refund requests must be made by the attendee or credit card holder. Refund requests must include the name of the attendee and/or transaction number. Refunds will be issued by check.

Late Registration
Unless specifically stated on registration materials, all registration fees must be paid in advance of an event. On-site registrants are subject to an additional administrative fee.

Early Departures
Unless specially stated on registration materials, no refunds will be given for participants who leave an event or workshop prior to the completion of said event.

Lessac Kinesensic Training
Lessac Kinesensic Training is unique in its holistic, comprehensive and creative approach to all aspects of developing the body and the voice, for speech and singing and as creative instruments of communication, behavior and perception.

Kinesensic training is a self-teaching, sensory-based process based on feeling the way the human body functions naturally when it is free of adverse conditioning. It then uses those physical sensations to identify, produce and voluntarily control the voice and body.

Tuition, Fees, and Housing: $3,500.00
Covers all instruction and activities, facilities use, and single occupancy room. Housing is in a community of apartment suites with kitchens. 4 single rooms per suite, shared baths, basic kitchen cookware provided. Fee does not include required Lessac texts.


Meals:
For those choosing not to use the kitchen facilities at the apartments, all you care to eat meals are provided at the newly constructed Hoover Dining Hall Meal prices are $7 breakfast, $8 lunch; and $9 dinner. A One Week Introduction to Kinesensic Training at University of Mary Washington

A one-week introduction to the principles of Lessac Kinesensics for Voice & Body Training will be offered June 18 – June 23, 2017, at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA.  Specifically designed for those interested in experiencing stronger, more resonant vocal quality with ease, in conjunction with creating more physical flexibility, strength and expressive body movement. This training is beneficial for actors, singers, directors, lawyers, ministers, presenters, business men and women—in short, anyone interested in vocal/body life! A daily schedule would be full of instruction: from 8 am-5:00 pm with appropriate breaks within that time frame.

Tuition for this workshop is $1,200.00, which includes housing (see more information below) lunch and dinner daily. Additional costs include your transportation to the workshop and purchase of a workshop booklet (approx. cost $15) to be available at the workshop reception.

UMW Apartment Info

Participants in the Lessac Summer Workshops at the University of Mary Washington will enjoy full apartment living, double occupancy per bedroom (see below for single occupancy rates), during the workshops. The Apartments at Mary Washington are air-conditioned and have 1 or 2 bedrooms, 1 or 1-1/2 baths, a kitchen, and living/dining room combination. They are completely furnished. Each bedroom comes equipped with bed linens, a pillow, a blanket, and a set of towels. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Each apartment will contain a set of dishware/glassware/stemware, a set of cookware, utensils, dish- towels, paper towels, and dishwasher detergent. Each bedroom also has internet access, either wireless or LAN (CAT-5) cable.

Please note that the apartments are NOT equipped with microwaves, coffee makers, or other small appliances. Also, the bedrooms have NO light fixtures. Participants are encouraged to bring a small lamp for their bedroom as well as any other home comforts they wish. A Giant Grocery Store is within walking distance for food and supply purchases.


Upon arrival, participants will be provided with a list of restaurants within walking distance of campus, area attractions, and emergency information.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is $1,200.00 for the workshop, which includes housing (double occupancy/bedroom) and lunch and dinner daily. For a private bedroom, the charge is an additional $16.50/night.

Application deadline is April 30. The tuition is due by May 15. No one may participate without full payment of tuition and fees. Deadline for withdrawal is May 20. After that date, no payments will be refunded.

However, one of the best ways to acquire training is through the many workshops offered by the Lessac Training and Research Institute®, including introductory, dialect, and intensive workshops. These workshops are geared toward specific target populations such as theatre professionals, health and wellness practitioners, public speakers, speech pathologists and therapists, movement practitioners etc. and are of varying lengths and depth of study. Workshops are usually conducted in retreat-like settings so participants can fully immerse themselves in the process.
