Kinesensics for Tai Chi

In the promise of a new year, we imagine what is possible—are there simple steps we can take to improve our health and ability to handle stress? This KC Studios workshop will explore the Lessac Body Energies at work in the process of learning some basic moves from Wu Style Tai Chi. The tranquil and meditative movements of Tai Chi have been shown to offer a variety of health benefits, including balance, bone strength, improved blood pressure, reduction of anxiety and depression, and enhanced sleep quality. Buoyancy is the Body Energy most visible in Tai Chi forms, but participants will learn how the other Lessac Energies can help us understand and internalize nuances of yin and yang in the movements. During the workshop, participants will experience the Body Energies in simple movements, including the “tai-chi walk” and elements from the Wu Style Long Form, known as “The 13 Golden Postures.
